![]() Have you picked up a Bentley repair manual for the e46 chassis yet? If not really should. I would do the power steering repair yourself. $68 bucks is cheap for a dealer oil change. I would cut the oil change intervals from 15K to either 5K or 7K. The car has been great so far - no major repairs in all my years of ownership, so maybe this is just what happens. I appreciate any and all replies with advice. I live in Minneapolis and unfortunately park outside almost all year, so I'm sure that this is just what happens to a car after 7 years of driving by me and the previous owner. The dealership quoted me at $638 for parts and labor. That said, I want to take care of it right away. that lead me to believe this is an immediate danger. ![]() Is this another repair where I can buy the parts and do it myself? I do notice the steering wheel vibrating a bit at mid-speeds (anything between 30-60 MPH), but it's never given me any kind of warning light, smells, etc. I'm relatively handy and have done a number of DIY repairs (rotate my own tires/change brake pads/Xenons, etc.) but I've never found a great guide to checking or fixing my power steering. The dealership did the "free inspection" and found that my power steering was leaking and the gasket needed to be repaired. My CPO had expired (meaning my oil change now cost me $68, which isn't awful since it's 15,000 mile fluid)Ģ. It was there that I realized two things:ġ. I recently took my 2004 325xi to the dealership (first cardinal sin, I know) for a CPO oil change.
